Route survey

Also: route survey · pilot survey

A pre-move check of the planned road route for an oversized load — bridge clearances and load ratings, overhead lines, turn radii, road width, and any construction or weight-restricted structures. For the largest moves it’s a physical drive-through. The survey decides whether a route is viable and what escorts, pole cars or utility lifts it needs, and it’s done before the permit, not after the truck is loaded.
