Drop-and-hook

A delivery where the driver drops the loaded container (on a chassis) at your dock and leaves, then returns later to collect the empty — as opposed to a live unload where the driver waits. Drop-and-hook frees the driver and avoids detention if you can’t unload immediately, but the container and often the chassis stay with you, so chassis per-diem and detention clocks keep running until pickup.
