Safety data sheet (SDS)

Also: SDS · MSDS · material safety data sheet

A standardized document from the manufacturer describing a product’s hazards, composition and handling — including the transport section (14) that gives the UN number, proper shipping name, class and packing group. The SDS is the source the dangerous-goods declaration is built from, so an out-of-date or incomplete SDS is where DG problems usually begin. Every DG booking should start with a current one.
