The short-haul trucking move that carries a container between the port or rail ramp and a nearby facility — your warehouse, a transload dock, or an empty return. It is a distinct, separately-priced leg of an ocean shipment, built from line haul plus accessorials like chassis, pre-pull and detention. Because drayage is where demurrage and per-diem clocks are won or lost, dispatch speed matters as much as the rate itself.
