An instruction that lets the carrier release cargo at destination without an original paper bill of lading, once the shipper has surrendered the originals at origin. It removes the wait for couriered documents and the risk of losing them — useful on fast trades — but it also means whoever is named as consignee can collect the goods, so it should only be used when payment terms allow it.
